Being new to cgi-perl, it took me a day to install my message board -- CuteCast -- due to all the questions I had and help I needed.
One day later I was able to install a chat room -- JabberChat -- myself in less than an hour.
ALL my problems the first day traced back to my ftp program being unable to accurately set the chmod numbers. I downloaded Cute-FTP and found setting the chmods was a snap. I also discovered in some scripts I have to set the chmod for the folders AND cgi files.
This simple discovery (provided to me here, by the way!) solved so many problems I thought I would share it with everyone. It's a little tedious following the "readme" and setting the correct chmod for every folder and file, BUT -- it's sure nice to see those scripts up and running perfectly, in record time!
