yes you can post just about anything avi, mpg, wmv, mov, divx, you can either just make a link to the file in which case the player will open aytomatically or you can embed the file inside a web page

some browsers need to update the plug ins for such video files.
i have never used front page to upload video files, but here is the code you can use to embed the file to the page:

<EMBED SRC = "yourfile.avi" AUTOSTART = false LOOP = 1 CONTROLS = "smallconsole" WIDTH = 320 HEIGHT = 257 ALIGN = center>

the width and height may change with the size of your file.

that should work. :cool:

yes, and as big as you have room for. Just watch your bandwidth consumption.

Windows Media, RealMedia, and QuickTime are usually preferred because AVI files are so large and don't stream.

I have tried several times to upload my AVI file to the server but it takes forever and didn't work. There must be an easier way to do this. Thanks for all the answers and tips. :)

You're probably on dial-up. Server timeouts or even noise will drop you off. If it's not to big Kb's I'll compess for you.

.avi's are huge. Convert the .avi to .mpg (.mpeg) that will cut file size down by more then half. Then if you can take every second frame and x2 the frame rate (to keep original movie lenght/speed) that will slice another 3rd off file size.

Don't believe what the corner girls tell you - size DOES matter.
If it's to big for you to upload then no one is going to bother downloading it. ;)

Search here for a freeware convertor.

here's a pretty cool video tool. It's unfortuanetly somewhat limited on input and output capabilities, but still quite neat.

Bink and Smacker are neat. Anyway, not mpeg output function, unfortuanetly, but you can take a video and decompress it into individual frames, which is always handy. You can also reencode audio.
