Here is some more experimentation :

quality is not too good due to the masive compression from 120 MB, but you should be able to double the view size and get a reasonable picture

If you freeze the first frame you can see the writing on the ring, i did this by getting an "elfish" font from the net then typing in photoshop on a bmp. I then used this as a bump channel on a metalic texture.

The flames are made with 3 emmitters set to go off 50 frames apart with a lifetime of 60 frames, this gives a good billowing effect

Still in my early days with all this i think it is RTFM time and i plan someting more surreal with the ring !!

Do you still have the original terragen statue of liberety file ?.
I want to drag it into blender and play with it. :)

well it's the ring from LOTR falling into a bowl and then a partcle emiiter fireball kicks in , just added a mirror effect for fun :p

that staue of liberty was done with a model in bryce, i think, sorry i don,t have the model any more and for the life of me i can't remember where i got it from :(

how are you getting on with terragen to blender ? i could never sort out the problem of positioning, i followed the tutorial to the letter but the terrain mesh just would not position itself correctly
