View Full Version : Optimizing video for the web
What would be a good software program for video optimization? I have some clips that I want to upload to my site, but some are 5 MB!

when you find out let me know, compression is a mystery to me, however i use vmach to stich frames together and compress videos, it also allows special effects find it at gromada.com
it is getting 423 MB files down to 464 kb files, however there is always a trade off with quality, it does not make wmv or mov files
for these i use camtasia, quite expensive but quite good though it's main use is to produce live action screen shot movies for things such as training
good luck

What video format are you using? WMV is a good format for web, and it gives you the options to choose the bitrate. Of course, the lower the bitrate, the lower the quality. Take a look at http://www.riverpast.com/multimedia/videocleaner/videocleaner.html, it is a decent encoder.
If you want to post in QuickTime or RealMedia format, I am sure you can find the right software in www.download.com.
Keep in mind, video clips use your bandwidth up very quickly. So plan ahead.

what about going to http://www.guildftpd.com/ and downloading a mini ftp server so that you can store the files on you computer in any format you want under your anonymous acount so that way it doesnt use up any of your bandwidth or powwebs 650mb limit. For proof that this works, i tried it on a geocities website, and everyone knows that free sites are seriously limited, here's the address, check it out --
