I'm trying to put streaming video on my site in .mov format but its not working. The only format that is working is .avi. I use FrontPage and is has code for .avi already in it. By the way i also have the connection via FTP to my computer to save space and bandwith, because most of the avi files are BIG. If you have ideas please help!

Thanks
Dave

i did not think that mov files stream, wmv and real media files stream however i think you need a streaming server setup which i don't think powweb has, though as usual i probably will have to grovel corrected !

No need to grovel, i got the format name mixed up, it was wmv. The problem was when i converted from mpeg to wmv the file never played on the site and most of my mpeg files are almost 100Mb and have/need a lot for what i do so i cant put the mpegs on powweb #1 bandwidth, #2 space, but i ended up using the original mpegs any way. How? I cheated, i use my own computer as a public ftp server so the videos stream from my computer instead of powwebs servers, therefore bypassing bandwidth and space!!

yes but you are

1. resricted by your upload speed and

2, possibly infringing your isp agrreement by running a server( but then again who cares !!)

well your upload speed will determine how fast people can download from you.

yeppers. Since you're in the US (like me) if you're on DSL your upload is probably capped at 128kbps (16KB/sec). Possibly 256kbps (that's what I have on cable) which is 32KB/sec. Which, if 10 people are trying to watch your video, is very very slow.

Plus cable isps typically have rules specifying you can't use your connection for stuff like that. DSL doesn't usually care. And, if you're on a T1/T3/OC256 or something, it doesn't matter. :) I want an OC256. Paul, hook me up, I hear you've got pull.
