space seems to be down. Again. This is happening far too often. Frankly your 99.7% uptime is a joke. I have looked at the outages suffered by space since I joined a year ago, and its more like 96.5%!!!!

sort it out or you'll be losing business. The great OPS panel, disk space, bandwidth, etc, all fall by the wayside if basic hosting functions are not happening - like your site staying up.

It has come back up but my forums are showing this:

CGIWrap Error: User not found

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CGIWrap was unable to find the user ID '18569' in the password file on this server.

Check the DOCUMENT_ROOT setting and try again.

is this something powweb are working on?

same here... is space the bastard child or something ?

CGIWrap was unable to find the user ID '18160' in the password file on this server.

Check the DOCUMENT_ROOT setting and try again.

your assertion that space has been up that far is pure b.s. --- not balanced story. I can't post again today ... ftp, cgi and others are down. Yeah, the website is up ... but the features are not there ... like POSTING.

Also, Jesse, why are we supposed to hunt and find info on servers when the perfect hosting solution is to be that. There is a problem with Space.powweb.com and one that continues to haunt the users of the webserver. Don't you think that you'd have a "Space is fudged up again" posting. Hiding a problem like you did in the Orion website is like the telephone company telling you that there is a problem on your line. Heck, Jesse, we have it in the paper two towns over. Why don't you look at that.

Yes, I saw that. However, doing conversions from GMT to PDT in my head before I've had a stiff cup of coffee is a bit much for me. Only after I posted did I realize that you'd posted that space was having "unrelated issues" only a half hour before I posted.

It might be nice for y'all to say what sort of "unrelated issues" were occurring. For all any of us knew, the issues y'all are addressing were not the ones we were experiencing...

Why am I posting this? Dunno. I sure hope the admins are working on those "unrelated issues" & not reading this board right now ;-)

My site on space is www.eslgo.com and it seems to be down. At first I got:

Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:
A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please contact the administrator.

Once I got a 404 but usually I get that gateway thing.

I haven't done the math, but I have to agree that it doesn't seem like my site is up 99.7% of the time.

Any ideas on a time scale for Space, Sgeine?

Only thing I have in my htdocs is an 'index.html' file and nothing else...............

There's diddly-squat in my cgi-bin and log folders either.

:(

Hope your back-ups can soon return my site to its previous state.

Way to Go, PowWeb! Up and running again...........

Actions speak louder than words, and that's the best way to deal with a problem in my book.

Thanks.

I've been on space for nearly a year now, and I've seen TWO noticeable downtimes. Compare that with any other provider, and you'll see that powweb has _excellent_ uptime.

I suggest a little more patience.

Hmmm .... I am happy with Powweb, and I know first hand how the IT world is fickle. This message board is worth the price of admission; It's just frustrating that the message about Space's problem, for today, was inside another post about server Orion.

Tech support is good, however, about fixin' the problems as fast as possible.
