I have never installed the SE version before. I just signed up, although the temp url and everying is now active. I installed the 2 files as directed to a folder under htdocs "forum" which had been CHMOD'd to 777. I ran the install.php and everything seemed to work fine until near the end. After I specified the admin user info. I get this error:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user: 'skyviewmember@www05.powweb.com' (Using password: YES) in /www/s/skyviewtech/htdocs/forum/install.php on line 659
Unable to connect to the MySQL server. Check your password and try again.

I have installed mysql through OPS, called the database skyviewforum, and setup a user skyviewmember all in OPS. Earlier in the install, I specified mysql03.powweb.com as the host, since that's what OPS told me my database was hosted on. I'm sure I followed the directions, does anyone know why I'm getting this error? I was curious as to why it said @www05.powweb.com since that's my HTTP server, not the mysql server that I had specified. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks...

David

I may be wrong here, but I'm not sure that you will be able to access your MySQL until your domain becomes active - ie your not using the temp URL.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will be along to correct me :)

Thanks for the reply, I didn't realize that MySQL wouldn't work until propogation had completed. Figured since it was all in the same "space" and was recognizing my ServerRoot path correctly.

Does anyone else know if this is the case for sure? If so, guess I'll just have to wait a few days. Thanks...
