To those who needs to manage their databases, I tried MySQLFront and I liked to use it.
You can download the software at:
http://www.anse.de/mysqlfront/
The latest version is 2.1 (1.208 KB).
You can open two windows: one with your databese in your local machine, and the other with the database in Powweb.
Then, you can import or export files, create, alter, delete tables, modify a record, etc. It's a good way to have a backup of your data.

PS: To Sophie,
Please amend me if there is something wrong, ok?
I agree.
(and best of all, it's FREE!)
I use it all the time to manage my db.

Yes. I like it. I haven't tried all the functions yet, but until now it looks better than mascon (keeps on crashing on my PC and doesn't allow me to make a back-up(probably because I am Dutch and didn't want to pay for it ....;))

Sigh, I discovered this after i already purchased a cop of Mascon. doh!
I like it better than Mascon too! But I still cannot figure out how to save a copy of my database to my local hard drive. I want a copy so I can back up my files, not so I can run anything off my local HD (I'm running windows 2k, so i dont think it would work anyways)

Is the export function not what you want?
If you choose to export tables, you can say which tables have to be backup'ed and MySQLFront puts it all in a file on your harddisk. Looks nice and is fast.

hehe. ill try that when i get home. i was looking for something which exported the whole DB, not just the indiv tables. but i guess that makes sense. i think i was looking for something that doesn't exist.
Thanks!
I installed MySQLFront, run it thru a LAN connection, but it gives error. I run it thru direct internet connection and it worked.
Is there a way to make it run thru a LAN connection?

Hm. I use it with a LAN connection at home and there is no problem. At work it doesn't work (perhaps better :)) because the port is blocked. Could it be the same for you?
I use it at work with a LAN. When I connect using my client PC, I get error. When I connect using the network server, it worked.
Can you share me how you connect thru a LAN environment (configuration, settings, etc...)?
Thanks...

I simply used the default parameters of MySQLFront. So if it the port is not blocked I am...
I use no proxyserver, but I can't imagine that makes a difference. Perhaps somebody else has a clue?
Friendly greetings,
Pieter
