Dear Powweb Fellows,
I want to run an extra dbase application on my site. Is that possible?

If you want a MySQL, simply go to OPS and purchase another dbase at $10.
It would depend on what the objective is as well as the needs of the application you want to run as to how you would go about doing a second database application on your site.
If you are seeking to use the same application as the first, just make it use a different database name, or if you specifically want the application to be contained in a separate database from the first, then you would need to do what the previous post suggested and go to Member Operations and pay for another MySQL database.
If you are just adding a second application to the existing database, say in the case of you installed a content management system like post nuke and now want to add some extra modules to it like an address book, guest book, calendar, etc., then you wouldn't need to do anything other than install the module as it expects to use the same database and the install scripts for it have the coding to create the tables it needs within the existing database.
So it rather depends on what you are using as well as what you intend it to do as to if you really need a second database set up or not.
Hope this helps you out.
