Spybot Problems

Okay,

I downloaded and installed SpyBot. (For the second time in a month).

The problem I've had with it is it gets stuck on a C2.lop file and NEVER gets past it. I tried the suggestions to "give it a few extra minutes and it will get past it"...Would overnight (i.e., 6 hours,) be considered long enough? :confused:

Well, I tried that and woke to find it still looking at the file...All the "fixes" I saw after doing a GooGle search referred to going to the "Exclusion" settings and omitting references to those files...Help section of SpyBot says those settings are accessed via clicking on the "Advanced Settings" tab...Guess what? I don't have an "advanced settings"! That's why I re-downloaded and re-installed. Second installation STILL shows no advanced settings tab.

Suggestions, anyone?

I have spybot (version 1.2) installed on my system and their is no advanced "tab".....The way mine is set up is to go to the
start menu - program file - spybot search & destroy
There you should see 3 choices
1 - Spybot S&D - (Advanced Mode)
2 - Spybot S&D - (Easy Mode)
3 - Uninstall

So for me to switch between advanced and easy I do it through the start menu....

Thanks for the advice! I did finally get it to work...I downloaded yet a third time...This time from the German site...Ran the update option and "Voila!", there were the settings options I had been trying to find!

Discovered a BUNCH of "varmints" that shouldn't have been there...Cleaned them out, then ran SCANDISK from DOS...'Puter is working fine now...Speed factor and everything else I checked so far...

THANKS to all for the help in EVERY area I've needed it!
