Why is it that my site can't go for a day without problems with MySQL? My error from my vBulletin database for the day is...
Database error in vBulletin :
Link-ID == false, connect failed
mysql error: Host '127.0.0.1' is blocked because of many connection errors. Unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts'
mysql error number: 1129

I think that I'm gonna start a log here and everytime I receive an email error message over 100 times from vBulletin, I'll post it here. We can start a running commentary on it....
This is ridiculous already....

mysql error: Host '127.0.0.1'
This error message makes it look like you're using 'localhost' as your database server name. Try changing it to 'lunar.powweb.com'.
MySQL connects to the database using different methods if you specify 'localhost' or the full name of the server (even if they're actually the same box).

I don't think that's it because I'm getting the similar errors and my database server name is set to 'lunar.powweb.com'.
I keep getting the following errors multiple times a day going back over a month:

I could get very vocal here about how my one site hosted here suffers more down time than my other 7 sites combined which are hosted elsewhere. But, last time I got real vocal, my posts were edited, then deleted and my IP address at work was blocked from these forums.

Walt,
I get those all the time too, but like I said, I think I'm gonna start a log. Next time I start getting those messages in bulk, I'll put them up here too. The best one that I've had so far was when I kept getting messages that I went over the 36000 question limit. I got over 70,000 emails over a period of two days for that one. Of course they then shut my site down due to using too many resources when if their MySQL server counts were resetting themselves the way they should have, it would have never happened. My forum, running the same software as this one btw, gets much less usage yet I never remember getting a MySQL error while I'm on here......

Jeff,
I've been using localhost since I started my forums here back in July of last year. Never had a single problem till they started putzing around with MySQL limits. Since then my forums go down at least once a day for some period of time....

Funny you should say that because I have never had a problem on this forum either, that is until today. While checking for replies to this thread, I got the following error
MySQL Error 12 from table handler on SELECT <font face="ve
First time I've seen an error here.

Actually, my database won't be on mysqlX.powweb.com because I've been here and had my database running since before they had dedicated MySQL servers such as "mysqlX".
On another note, MySQL on lunar has been dropping connections for my database for the past 20 minutes..... Anyone else having any problems????

Apparently these clowns can’t seem to figure out how to set up a reliable MySQL server. I went away on vacation for 2 weeks and came home to find 222 database error messages in my inbox. Damn thing must have been down for most of my vacation.

HI all,
I too am having the same problem on "lunar".
I'm simply hosting a very small OsCommerce site & for around the past 3 to 4hrs I've been unable to access my site at all....
This error is received:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Host '127.0.0.1' is blocked because of many connection errors. Unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts' in /www/m/myusername/htdocs/catalog/includes/functions/database.php on line 19
I'm unaware as to how often this occurs or for how long, either way it's NOT GOOD!
Admins: Whats going on?
regards,
Rob:mad:

I've brought this to the attention of two admins and hopefully one or both will pick up the message soon and take a look at this issue.

I already heard back from an admin who ran flush-hosts on the lunar MySQL server which should clear up the problem. They'll be keeping an eye on it as well.
