Memorex 48U scanner install

I am attempting to help a friend install a Memorex 48U USB scanner on Windows XP. I have had difficulty in the past installing USB hardware on XP in the past. The software installs and the scanner is reconized as a USB devise added. But will not install.

I always plug them into a com port you should have (or can get) an adapter plug. I think you'll find they run better as thats where XP looks to by default. Ensure the scanners power supply is connected and turned on. Scanners often have a mechanical lock to protect during transport, usualy underneath make sure it's unlocked. Leave the usb for a digital camera. Actually I just installed my cannon scanner on my XP system com1 this morning and away she goes. :)
