View Full Version : Is FTP slow today ??

I'm designing a CGI script which ive set a cron-job for..
& it logs the results..
However its taking me 5-10 minutes to d/load the resilts file (log) so I can see what the process is doing..
NORMALLY when I d/load files off the web - I run at 4-5-6-7 KB a second
FTP (tonight) is running at 0.1 - 0.2 (NAUGHT POINT ONE / NAUGHT POINT TWO) KB a second...
this is VERY fustrating, as its a BIG script - & I log the results.
When the section of script is completed / fixed etc - I reduce the output of that section (so the log file is smaller) & begin logging the next section.
I cant proceed - Unless I know what its doing.
Any advise ?

I'm on "space" & I am unable to access my site via either HTTP (browser) or FTP.
I have send a support message to Powweb, so hopefully they'll have it fixed pretty soon.
And on the fun side, I just noticed that Powweb's phone support option description on its website says "Talk to a live person!" I'd like to see somebody talk to a person who wasn't alive -- I think the word for that is "seance" & some hosting services take that approach. Glad that Powweb techs are not ghosts in the machine ;)

There does indeed appear to be a problem with space. Hope our live support staff can get it up and running again soon! ;-).

Yep - im on space too..
I notice - that i cant get FTP at all now - & the site is completely down...
(in another thread, Ive got a CGI script creating 100K log files every few minutes & I cant get in to stop it :-( )
(ive got another cron job anyways - that rotate/delete old logs) - so when the server is up - it wont get bogged down by a 1-2 gigabyte log-file :)
Oh well - Another night wasted. - Might a well go to bed (its 1:10 a.m. here now..

I'm on space here too and it's already 9:00, so its back to work and no site. This isn't good as we need email/orders/etc.

I dont get / earn money from my site (as yet)..
However Im developing something which MAY become commercial - in future
and - Ive got 5 or so people that are testing / giving me suggestions etc..
& last night, I told them I'll fix - one particular section / area.. & I cant.
If I say i'll do something, I'll do it..
(dont worry, Im also surfing a badly-designed USA immigration/ visa website.. - I hardly ever get peeved-off or anything - Im usually a quiite gentle guy.. But tonight it must be a full-moon or something...)
