View Full Version : Moved database
My database was moved from meteor to mysql04 upon complaints that it was going out constantly. The MySQL Tab in ops shows that my database is now there, but I can't access it. I'm listing the server as mysql04.powweb.com, and using my old name and password. I can still log on to the meteor server, though my database is no longer there. What gives? Does anyone know if it just takes a long time to make the move, or if I have to change something besides the connect line in my php scripts? Thanks.

when i moved mine from comet to mysql02, they moved the account, but they didn't move the physical database until i emailed them about it a couple of times.
i'm just done with my first year of hosting here, and that was the only time i was ever even temporarily frustrated (read: good job powweb). needless to say, i signed on for another great year.

I'm having the exact same problem. The only difference is that I was moving from comet.powweb.com. I just sent in a support ticket. I suggest that you do the same. Let's see how soon this is resolved.

Try resetting the username and password.

That's the first thing that I did and it did not work.
I resetted shortly after posting this, and it was effective. Nice of Powweb's support team not to mention that I'd have to do that.

All those experiencing problems with mysql after the move should read this thread: http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23252&perpage=20&pagenumber=1
Pay close attention to Devin's posting toward the end of the first page. It gives a detailed solution.

I hadn't seen that thread.

Yeah, I've got an even simpler solution though: I'm finding a new host.
