View Full Version : Help with MySQL-Front
Hi,
I am new to MySQL. I am trying to connect to my MySQL database through MySQL-Front. But I keep getting this error:
2003 - Can't connect to MySQL server on 'mysql03.powweb.com' (10060)
BTW, I can connect to my database through phpMyAdmin.
Thanks,
Kikj

Mysql03 seems to be up at the moment, it was restarted 5 hours ago.
Check your name / password.

I think I use the right user name/password because I can connect the database through phpMyAdmin using the same user/password.
Here is what I set in MySQL-Host:
Description: MyDB
Hostname/IP: mysql03.powweb.com
User: <my userid>
Password: <my password>
Port: 3306
Timeout 30 seconds
Didn't check "Use compressed client/server protocol
Database(s): <MyDB>
Thanks,
Kikj

I don't know if you have looked into any of these other than phpMyAdmin and MySQL Front, but you might want to check this link out (http://www.irarichardsmith.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=11&page=1) as I have done a short writeup on some MySQL Admin products and included links to their home pages.
I used MySQL Front only briefly, did get it to work, but when I found out the product was not under development any longer nor supported by its developers, I opted for something different.
I realize MySQLCC is presently in beta, but it is coming along nicely. It installs locally on your own computer just like MySQL Front does. It is graphical in nature and I think does a wodnerful job. I use it all the time and love it.
Just trying to be of help and hope you find this information helpful.
I think I found the problem. Our firewall is blocking non port 80, 443 or ftp requests. I need to find another machine to verify it.
I knew MySQL Front is not longer under development but it was recommended by PowWeb. It is good to know there is another software. I will try MySQLCC.
Thanks, guys.

I'm so glad you found the answer to your problem.
MySQL Front is a good product from what I understand, and I did like it when I used it. But since it wasn't supported any longer, I wanted to go with something that was.
I realize not everyone is like me and that is fine as I don't expect them to be. I am the type of person that if I can't find my answer here, I like having the ability to go to the home site or developers site of the product and having some support or research options there. So that is why I opted not to settle in with MySQL Front.
Wish you much luck in the future as you press on with your site work.
