View Full Version : Notepad
I loaded a Notepad+ on my WinXP PC and it deleted regular notepad. Notepad+ is great, except that I can't right click on a wedpage to see the source. Some problem when going to view-> source. Is there away to get regular notepad to work or someone configure the computer so that it uses notepad+ to view the source? Also it sound that it couldn't find notepad.bak. I tried going ot Microsoft and that was no help.
ok, I found this
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/?url=/workshop/browser/configuration/clientreg/clientregistrylayout.asp?frame=true
specifically, look at the very bottom of the article.
There's a registry key which you can use to specify your 'view source' program. This is NOT 'html editor', that's something different.
This is the area I'm talking about:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\View Source Editor\Editor Name (default)
Contains the command line path for the .exe file that launches the editor for viewing source code.
now I haven't tested this or anything, and you may still have a bit of reading ahead of you, but I hope this pointed you in the right direction.
Satis, thanks for the tip. I will try it out and let you know what the results are. Thanks again:D
I tried changing it, but it didn't work. I finally did a search in yahoo and found out that I had Notepad+ set as default. I undid the default setting and regular notepad is working. So I got that going for me. Thanks for the help.
