I am almost at the point where I will be submitting my site to the search engines, but I have a pretty good concept and a definite market, with a way of getting plenty of hits, so I want to start to sell advertising space.

I have searched all over the web for methods of doing this. I have not found anything.

How do you do this?

I will probably stick to banners for now, I don't want pop-ups or anything. Is there a specific way to do this?

How do you charge? I imagine there is a standard.

Thanks for your help.

Mostly it is done by asking specific companies. Advertising $ has bottomed out in the last year and a half... Seems anymore, if you aren't a well-known company, they look the other way.

You may look at pay-per-lead companies, where you get a % (usually 5-15%) of everything you sell. I'd start with Commission Junction (http://www.cj.com)

CJ is the BEST! Because ALL money is pooled together nomatter what ads/companies you put on your site, they pay out at $25 monthly, if you don't hit $25 it is carried over to the next month until you hit it.

I shy away from companies like linkshare.com, I've had 4-5 companies quit them when I had $25-40 in each account, stated they didn't have to pay me cause I didn't have $50-75 in my account. Linkshare you get paid separately by each company and each company sets their pay out rate. If a company decides to quit them, you lose EVERYTHING!
Commission Junction you get paid regardless if they quit! If you have an ad that isn't doing well, say it only brought in $3.00 in 4 months, switch to a different company and you still keep the $3.00

I could suggest companies like websponsors.com, fineclicks.com, onresponse, etc.... but I checked out your webpage and seen these would be pretty useless to you and you market.

Another option, or together with the above is joining
Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com)

You could link directly to discounted Soccer books and soccer gear. They pay 15% for books and 5% for everything else.

For futher instructions and questions of everything on your mind!!! check out this Forum (http://gethighforums.com/bin/Ultimate.cgi)
It is the most indepth forum and is used by many advertising companies also.

For that you need at least 1000 unique visitors everyday or else there is no use :(
