View Full Version : Webstats question and advice...

Greetings,

I run several sites on Powweb. One of the sites, www.chaseandsam.com has a pretty high amount of traffic on Saturdays (because it's a site for a radio show that airs on Saturdays) For the last 8 or 9 saturdays in a row, Webstats haven't operated. I figure it's because it can't handle the traffic (Saturdays are the only days it doesn't compile) We've had this problem on and off with webstats...sometimes it just freezes and won't run. Is there any way to fix it? I have been sent a fix from Powweb support. It involves cron jobs and chmodding. I'll do it if I have to, but I'm pretty clueless in that regard.

2 main questions:

1. Is there any simple way to fix webstats? (and is it worth fixing>?)

2. Is there another opensource/freeware program available that would do a better job and be somewhat simple to install.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Chase

I am at my wits end with this program (webstats) ...it is still frozen! I have about 10 sites hosted on Powweb...not many, but they all need access to their stats (they are all commercial businesses and ministries)

The main one, that keeps going out every Saturday (and some Sundays) is www.ChaseandSam.com

Please, if anybody has any insight, or advice, I'd be glad to hear it. Another program other than webstats, or simply a somewhat simple way to make webstats work as designed! Knowing what kind of traffic your site is getting is a fundamental element to webhosting and web operating.

Help!!!

Chase

Thanks for any help :)

Webstats aren't working for many users. Go to the announcements forum and see the admin's post on it. They are working on fixing. I don't have a workaround to offer you in the meantime, but if I find one, I'll post it here.
