why don't you enable deleting posts????

i wanted to delete one of my posts, but the closest i could come was just editing it down to a blank space...members should have permission to delete their posts, at least up to a certain time after posting...

if members are allowed to edit their posts down to a blank space, they might as well be allowed to delete them.

If you need a post deleted, just ask. :)

well i think it'd be easier just to edit it out so it's blank, instead of go to the trouble of asking a mod to delete it (through what..a pm? when will they get that pm?, what if you want it gone right away?....etc.). anyways, that's my input...

otherwise, powweb support seems to be doin a not-too-shabby job :D:D

Think about this. You see a post and report it to a moderator using that little link and when the moderator looks, the posting is gone. If you were the moderator, how would you like to receive the report and the posting has been deleted?

I can see your point to an extent. It would be nice to post something, find the answer and delete the original posting. Just let us know (I'm online quite a bit during most days) and we'll get to it right away. PM works good for me or email - either one.

Hope this helps!

And? I see no problem with that.

I agree with Josh, give us control over our own posts. I had to write a moderator and ask them to delete all text in my post because they altered it without my permission. If I had the ability to delete my own post, the conversation between me and the moderator would never have taken place. As soon as I saw that my post had been *tampered* with I would have deleted it and made a post objecting to the tampering and explaining my deletion.

As I have stated before, I don't have time to play tag with moderators. There is no logical reason that a person cannot delete their own post, is there?

In my mind, catching people posting things they shouldn't is not the essence of your position as a moderator here, it is to help the users of this forum. If you receive a report about a post and you find it has been deleted, well all the better, problem solved.

I don't mean to offend you, I simply calls 'em like I sees 'em, as always :)

Not exactly Bud. See that little "Report this post to a moderator" in the bottom right hand of every posting. That's there for members to report inappropriate postings to us. Therefore, it kinda is the moderators job.

The moderators job (clean and simply) is to help fellow members and to keep these forums civil. That's one of the reasons we have the ability to closed threads.
