If you're not fluent or even familiar with HTML, try heading over to Download.com (http://www.download.com) and searching for the following:
HTML Editor
FTP Client
You'll be able to find some free ones along with some pay ones. If you're running Windows and have FP Express installed, this should be good enough for most novice web site creators, along with an FTP program, such as LeechFTP (http://stud.fh-heilbronn.de/~jdebis.../downloads.html).

I think I know your problem.I'm also new to this and had the same little problem you had a week ago...When you make a homepage, make sure you title it "index.html" in that order. It gotta be small type. And when you upload your page or pages. The oploading process is case sensitive.Your name and password may be in CAPS or small letters....A very good web design program to me is "netscape composer"which comes free with the netscape program...

Terrell is correct. Rule of thumb with webpages:
Use small letters
Don't use spaces. A space equals %20 in ASCII code. Use _ instead or eliminate the space all together. ex. instead of your page.html, use either your_page.html or yourpage.html
Pick a constant. If you're using .htm, stick with it.
If you'd like, simply ftp into your account and remove the index.html. PowWeb is setup to use the .htm file if the .html file isn't there.

Hope this helps!

Netscape Composer comes free with Netscape Navigator and FrontPage Express came free with the original Windows 98. Either one will let you create web pages.

If you're going to have more than ten pages or so, you may enjoy having a full featured program like FrontPage 2002 or one of the Adobe products.

Seconding the earlier advice... always use all lower case for web page file names and image file names.

Name your home page index.html.

Does one have to creat the htdocs folder or is it set up when the user registers?

Hi hendrick,

When your account was activated all the folders should have been created by powweb system.

cgi-bin-for your script files

etc-for your webstats(you may have to activate in OPS area before this folder is created)

htdocs-all other files will go here

logs-your log filles
