View Full Version : Browser window problem

I am a iMac user and running OS 9.1 and using IE 5.1.6 browser. My problem is that when I click on a button, link, etc, sometimes it just sits there trying to load. I can sometimes hit stop and click again and it loads right away. Sometimes it goes to a white window as though a new page is coming up. It stops loading and the window is still white. I can often then hit refresh and the window shows properly.

The recent change made is I have recently went to DSL from dial up, and do have a router between the computer and DSL box. I have cleared the cache, history, reinstalled IE, cleared cookies, and run a disk repair program (Systemworks).

Since I am an old guy that does not know much on these fancy machines I am looking for suggestions. Does anyone know of what the problem may be. Is it the DSL or maybe the Sobig worm that is effecting servers? Or any other suggestions.

Everyone has been very helpful here in the past so I am hoping that someone may have had this happen to them and give me some suggestions.

Thanks a lot.
Mark

My bets are on the DSL/router configuration. I don't think it's anything to do with Internet Explorer.

One thing I can say is that I know 100% that it's not the Sobig.F virus. Us smart Mac users aren't susceptible to that (and most) virus.

Thanks Tom for your posting.

I know Mac's are not open to virus, worms etc and easy to use. That's why I got mine. I just thought that maybe the Sobig might be loading servers with email and that is causing problems on the internet as my problem does not seem to be on all sites. It seems to happen on only certain ones but it is really hard to tell fore sure.

After your post, I took the router off an went right from the DSL box to the computer and it did not help. Still the same problem. I just took a paper clip and pushed the reset button on the DSL so will see if that helps. Otherwise I am coming up at a loss as to what else to do.

Maybe someone else will come along with a suggestion.

Thanks again
Mark
