Since my Oscommerce shopping cart went life, I've had several orders come in only when the purchases are made from their home computer.

Some of the customers are able to register but are not able to finalize purchases. My Oscommerce cart will not allow them to check-out. One of the customers went home and was able to make the purchase. Today or this evening, I got the email complaint below:

"tried to placew an order for 4 boxes of China Green Tip Tea, Tazo. The site program would not accept the 4 box order and insisted I had one box. Is this a secure site?"

I went back and tried shopping the same product and it worked.I called a friend in another state to try it and it worked but I found that this customer was trying to access our shopping cart from work.

This seem to confirm the fears that some forumites have expressed concerning "SSL CERTIFICATE".

I have pulled the shopping cart this evening and re-instated the old shopping cart pending the SSL resolution. Any advise on how to get around this dilemma will be appreciated. Thank you

If you're trying to use PowWeb's implementation of SSL (http://servername.powweb.com:xxxxxx) with osCommerce, you might be out of luck. A lot of businesses filter ports, so this is a big possibility in your situation.

I just checked the verisign website and found that you can purchase their SSL certificate separately. If powweb does not allow its members to purchase private certificates then how do they expect the businesses that rely on its hosting to succeed?

Powweb's hosting is the best compared to other hosting companies. I hope that they will come up with a solution very soon else it will be FREE when they finally do.

PowWeb's admins have said that they are working on a new SSL solution, but I have no idea what the timeframe is. Can't be too soon from my perspective - especially with the holiday buying season coming soon.
