software to get pics from video source

anyone know of any programs that would allow me to get pics of videos i have (asf, wma, avi,mpg, etc)?? i have some videos and i want to get pics to use on my website. i should clarify- anyone know of any free programs that would allow me to do this?

Well, if you can play the video on your PC, then any screengrabber can do that for you. Also, pressing the [alt]-[printscreen] keys simultaniously, copies the active window to the clipboard. Then you can use any graphics editor to get that capture to a graphics file.

Alternatively, you can use my TGrab utility: it just automates the above manual labour... ;)

By the way: the captures, as described here, will include the window frame of the player used, so you'll want to remove that manually in a graphics editor.
