Hello I have my new website www.djsunriseonline.com and I just uploaded my demo cd which is about 24Mb in Mp3 format (48Kbps - 16Khz) and I'm having a problem I created a .pls (playlist) winamp file and it won't play I've tried changing the directory names and stuff but still not working...

Am I doing something wrong?? Do I need special hardware?? Limitations or what??

Welcome comments :)

Thanks In Advance

I inquired on several hosts about making a Web-Radio site that would stream MP3s through Winamp on my weezer site...most of 'em won't let you because it's a massive bandwidth hog.

I really doubt Powweb will allow streaming MP3s...requires Shoutcast Server, as well (I think).

Hmmmmmmmmmmm... sounds familiar!

I tracked some information about streaming MP3s some time ago before we decided to stream RM instead

It might be an idea to use the extension .m3u instead. Make sure, you have the full URLs as in

http://www.myserver.com/myself/mp3s/mambo.mp3

in it.

Maybe this helps, best of luck!

I tried several ways to embed MP3's into my new site and ended up embedding them into my html via an M3U code link, the MP3's are in my file section, there's an MP3 gif that is linked to the M3U which is coded for the MP3.
I currently have 19 mp3's that are functioning using Window's Media Player..

Lea,

That was wonderful! And it's exactly what I want to do with several of my sites, too. So how do you convert an MP3 to an MPu, or however you did it? Did you use Music Match or Winamp or what?

The music sounded great, much better than Real Audio.

Put the full URL for each MP3 on a seperate line - if your mp3 file is at http://yoursite.com/music/atrack.mp3, then that's what you put in your .m3u. The reason you do this is because of the way mp3 player software handles mp3 links - if you link directly to a mp3 file, some packages will try to download & save the file instead of play it (this also depends on how the user has configured their system).

On the other hand, if you link to an .m3u, most packages will play the files in the playlist directly. Note that this isn't the same as streaming. Same players will download the whole mp3 file before playing, others will start playing as soon as they have downloaded a certain amount of the file - which is a poor man's streaming, but good enough for most purposes. Powweb does not support streaming media.

Hey,

I just thought of something: is this is Windows Media Player dependent, how about Mac users? Would it be better to use Real Player? I see they have free software to convert videos to real format, so I'm thinking they have something like the Video Producer for Audio. Anyone know?

You can use real player to stream mp3 files..just make "song.ram" point to the location of the mp3 file...like "http://www.djsunriseonline.com/song.mp3" and it will stream

After following this thread, reading and experimenting, we finally set up a first attempt on providing a more or less comprehensive tutorial about web audio at the

Comments are more than welcome!
