View Full Version : Re: Deleting Posts
I have reopened this topic because you did not answer my question. I still see no reason that users cannot delete their own posts, aside from making you feel less powerful.
As someone who has helped out here, FAR longer than you I might add, I would appreciate it if you would not use your position as moderator to *get the last word in* and quickly close the post so that noone else can reply. Imho, that's abusing your position ;)
For the sake of the users of this forum, please do not close topics until discussion is completed. Thank you.

At this time, if you want to delete a post, please notify myself or any of the moderators and we will review and remove the post for you.
If this isn’t clear, let me know.
Thanks for the quick reply Starr.
But to tell ya the truth, I'm still at a loss for the reasoning behind this policy. Of course, you guys will run this thing the way you see fit, that's as it should be. Though, I feel it is my concern because I'm the one making the effort to post and help folks. It does take time out of my day to make these posts, though I do enjoy it just because I like helping people, it feels nice when I'm able to help someone. That's why I do it.
I'm just thinking that others must wonder the same thing, surely there is a good reason and I have just overlooked it :)
Just out of curiousity, what if I decided to delete every post I ever made here. What if a moderator upset me so much that I decided to leave and take my posts with me, would you delete them all at my request, there are quite a few ya know
Unless there is some good reason to forbid it, I would like to request the ability delete my own posts. I have that ability on all other forums I post at (not sure about WHT), Powweb is the only one that denies me that right.
Thanks,
~bud
Well, plain and simple, this is PowWeb forums and that's the way it's set up. Feel free to PM me anytime. I'm on here quite frequently during the day and night. I'll respond to your PMs and delete the posts in question. You've just got to let me know which ones to remove.
If you'll notice, I post quite often throughout the day and it wouldn't be any problem for me to remove your postings (at your request). Now I won't remove someone elses postings if you request that.
hey people,
i realize this topic has kinda been goin for awhile, but i just wanna make this point:
if a member wants a post deleted, since they can't do it themselves, they can just edit it down to blank space, then save the changes. this, in effect, is deleting the post, but the empty post is still sitting there causing clutter. so basically, if there is something they want to get rid of quick, they can just edit it to nothing. :D
Good point Josh, we can remove everything from our posts but we can't remove the post, kinda silly huh?
So not allowing deletions accomplishes nothing but to make it more difficult for the users to utilize the features of the forum, kinda crazy, but ok, if that's the way it must be.
