answer, in short, no. No IRC bots or clients.

http://powweb.com/policy.html

it's reachable through powweb.com, then policy. The specific section is Customer Use of Service. a: Disk Space and Client Content:

Acceptable use policy allows access to IRC Let me make this extremely clear so there is no misunderstanding..... NO IRC bots or clients as satis said.

You are on a shared server.

And people wonder why a server might lag

ok, no irc clients... is there a way i could offer a java irc client that the user could download from my site and use in their web browser that wouldn't use server resources? or if need be i suppose i could just put up links to www.mirc.com and www.caffeine-powered.com

No means No.

Go with the links. I found mirc a piece of cake to use.

great thanks, i'm going to try to set it up. I have a database used for existing membership... I would like to have phpBB use this database for username/password information so that people don't have to sign up for both, and then not offer forum only signup. If i can't change the source to look in the data bases i've already created, perhaps i could make a script that when someone registers their username/password could automatically be copied over the the database used by phpBB. If i have any more questions i'll start a new thread with that title so others can gain from my help
