Same here. Powweb claims that webstats is supposed to generate new stats "automatically" every 24 hours, but mine hasn't been generated since 8-27-03. No idea what these guys are doing. I've also noticed that prior to this outage, webstats does not run consistently. Not good.

ya, sure, the checks in the mail..... lets see... webalizer has been hit or miss off and on... oh, since I hired powweb (March10 2001). If web stats were critical to me, I'd have left this host long ago... Yes, stats actually worked for a few months, but I've had whole months disappear, no stats would run... powweb has pretty consistently tried to tell me I've got a problem with MY cronjob, even though I have never edited it, always using the cronjob POWWEB installs when the links are followed to turn webalizer on/off. Doesn't matter that it's verbatim POWWEB script, it's obviously the USER that's at fault.... To be honest, I'm pretty fed up with users having to "work around" powweb. Powweb expecting users to implement corrective actions to fix powweb definiciencies isn't an answer.

sogardbaPowweb expecting users to implement corrective actions to fix powweb definiciencies isn't an answer. Here's your answer. Powweb did not write the "webalizer script". It is a 3rd party script to use if you choose. If not, don't use it and implement your own.

Typical... Powweb "provides" a script, and then disavows any responsibility for its performance. Whatever script is being used, powweb installed it when I use the controls in OPS. If webalizer is the fault, why is THAT the script POWWEB installs? When there is a control to turn a function on and off, then that function as provided should work reliably. And it should work without laying extra configuration and scripting on the end users. If Powweb isn't going to provide scripts that work consistently, then they shouldn't provide them AT ALL. Once upon a time with a different user name I would have defended powweb, but no more. They've been the source of several problems that have cost me untold hours to recover from. I will never forget nor forgive the mySQL transfer fiasco that fried my database.

Following your thoughts, you might want to install something yourself. It seems that you don;t care if powweb provides something or not.

Again, please understand that powweb cannot touch the webalizer script since it is covered by the GNU (General Public Licence). We have provided solutions to all users until powweb solves this issue but you have all the right to decide to wait for powweb's solution.

I'm with you on this one. Powweb does that all the time. Instead of actually fixing whatever problem is out, they tell their users how to work around the problem and fix it on their own. The stats problem is just one example.

The webstats page was not coming up at all for me a few days ago so sent support an email and this is what they sent back to me on 9/4:

Hello,

We no longer provide users with Westats.

To view your webstats, please follow the instructions of this tutorial
http://resources.powweb.com/support/awstats.php.

Thanks,

I have five sites with POW, 3 sites the stats work and 2 they don't. Also the site that the stats page would not come up for is now working and I did nothing.

Crazy. For a big company like this that is normally reliable with other stuff it suprises me they cannot get it together with stats.

Forget Webstats,

try AWSTATS. It`s much more professional.

Actually, after some reading and searching the forum, that's exactly what I plan to do. The Awstats page looks pretty nice. I've done some crontab reading and once a person knows the format it isn't hard to schedule a job. I've got the webstats running regularly with crontab, and may as well jump in and switch stats programs while I'm at it.

I never messed with crontab so I thought it was difficult to install awstats but after reading the posts in that forum...I did it in minutes!

You should switch ASAP! ;)
