View Full Version : Problem with Java or JavaScript, I think

Hi all,

I'm not for sure if my problem is with Java or JavaScript, but that's what I'm guessing it is.

My grandfather's computer that I use does not seem to have certain components that it needs to view certain items on webpages. We have Windows XP and run Internet Explorer 6.0. However, on this website, for example, (http://www.athens.edu (Athens.edu)) I cannot view the News update script at the bottom. At least, that's what I think it is. It is just a blank window with an X in it. Also, I am not able to use the chatrooms run on http://www.ezboard.com message boards...I think they're Java related.

I have tried to go through Windows Update and things such as that, but I still have been unable to get the correct components added to IE or Windows to view these items on webpages. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance! :)

That would be Java, Microsoft does not include the Virtual Machine for Java with IE 6.

You need to go to Sun Microsystems (http://java.sun.com/) and click on the "Get Java" link to get the Java run time to be able to view Java and Java Applets.
