View Full Version : Monitoring up-time
Hi,
is there a free service with which I can monitor how often and for what time my site is down?
Thanks.

Here's some free services that will monitor your site every hour. All have options to monitor more frequent, but of course they charge for that. I use the last one and it has showed me when the site was down a couple of times.

Thanks Alphadesk, I have signed up to internetseer.com. :)
I was already joined to Internet Seer when I got my account. I'm not sure why.
I noticed regular accesses in my log file from internetseer.com, so I looked at the site to find out what it was. I then realized that someone must have signed me up but not told me. I went to the forgotten password link and typed my webmaster email address, and suprisingly it was recognized and I was given 'my' password!
Strange, huh? I just assumed that PowWeb signed me up and didn't mention it.

We do not sign you up for anything.
FYI, Internet Seer reports erroneously all the time. Use it as a guide, if it reports an outage, verify first please.
hey starr, you PowWeb does submit sites to a search engine (I can't remember the name) and it signs us up for InternetSeer, so PowWeb is sorta responsible for it :)

Starr is correct about this. If Internet Seer cannot access your site, don't take this as a definite site down. It just means that Internet Seer could not access your site. As we all know there can be alot of reasons a site may not be available to someone at any given time. It is useful as a guesstimate as to your downtime.
Just moments ago, I received another 'Alert' that my website was unreachable for the last 5 hours, but it's okay now.....That just didn't jive with the access logs.
yea InternetSeer isn't reliable, also I tried getting removed from them but I still get emails :(
Once my site was down from here and InternetSeer said nothing.
