I would like to offer e-mail accounts to the users of my site....
how can this be done?

Wild,

You can set up their accounts via your members area (email manager), and then provide them with their username and p***word to access http://mail.yourdomain.

Once they log in, they can change their own p***word and manage their own email account. :)

I hope this helps.

Is there any way we could get a different interface? No offense to PowWeb, but I don't want their big ol' banner in the way for users of my site (when I get around to setting them up).

At this time no. Perhapse in the future, we will have a generic one you can add you to your site.

I got an email from a company who offered the service of giving your users free web based email at them@yourdomain.com
Is that like what you want?? It was a free service, they host the accounts *i think*
I was going to get it, but it involves changing MX records.. and that sounded waaay too scary to me..!!
I can't remember what the url for this company was.. but if you want to know I can hunt it down..?

sophie: The scary thing about these companies is that all your mail will get routed to them (by modifying your MX records). This means usually checking your email through the web.

It also means banners (and lots of them) for everyone who checks there mail.

If it sounds too good to be true.. it probably is!

Thats what i thought too.. thats why I didnt sign up for it.
I know it IS web based, and I know the mail would get routed through them, and I know that they display banners but give you 20% to display your own banners.
Also, once you change your MX records, your pop mail wont work. I read that on ONE of the companies web sites. The thing is, you have to hunt and hunt to find information like this, I sent them an email asking about it but they didnt reply.
It makes me sick that they dont give you the little details. Some of the companies didnt give you this information at all.
Theres no way I want my pop mail to stop working

I have a few people that have gotten e-mail accounts now. but they can not seem to change the password, I tried to change it in one and it gave me this;
""Your new password has been saved. The new passsword will take affect soon and you will be logged out automatically when this happens. You will need to close your all your browser windows and login again.""

but it never logged out automatically and the password did not save, ????
Now what???

hi sophiespo! Yep, small world it is! Mandurah is a beautiful place to live. In fact I own www.mandurahonline.com (which is undergoing a redesign right now).

I found a nice litte cgi program called A-mail, Set it up on my daughters site here, and she was able to setup mail for her friends.... You don't have to go throught the POW-WEB mail interface. And I re-direct any admin mail to another account I use all the time...

One time setup.... then no more hassles....

Just about all CGI-resource sites have a link to this e-mail program

You're asking from a post 4 years ago?

Don't know if it's still around, but there are tons of scripts on HOTSCRIPTS.com

http://www.hotscripts.com , since this is powweb, you'll need the CGI-Perl Version ,

I know of 5 or 6 ASP versions , but POWWEB servers don'ts support.
