Remote assistance Win XP Pro

I cannot connect to a friends computer to do a remote. Error Message not word for word though: Cannot resolve host computer. Firewalls are off-- Antivirus off --

try connecting using the ip adress rather than the computer name

can you ping the other computer ?

go to a dos promt ans type ping followed by the ip address

if that fails then you have a conectivity problem
