View Full Version : Windows XP/Win2000 server dual boot problems
What is the trick to dual booting a manufacturers (compaq) version of Win XP and a retail version of 2000 server. Every install with XP installed first (has to be) has resulted in screwed up boot files.
Any suggestions?
I think you need to install 2000 first. The general rule is oldest first - I think. At least that is what I had to do with a WinME and W2K machine.
yea, that's the way you're supposed to do it. Sounds like Trip can't do that, though. Restore disk or something? Anyway, you could look into a 3rd party boot manager or something.
if it were two retail versions it wouldn't be too bad.
Anyone have a favorite boot manager then?
(XP SUX)
I've used System Commander (http://www.v-com.com/product/sc7_ind.html) in the past and at that time it was one of the best ones available.
I'm sure there are many more available today that are equal or possibly better.
