Hey,

I am on jupiter.powweb.com. I counted the files I have on Powweb and I have about 12,000 files.

In OPS, the filecount is reported as 32,808 files. That is totally wrong!

I called up technical support 2 times about it (since messages sent to technical support are not answered). They tried to play with my account, they made it go to 27,000 files and then back up to 32,080 files. Then they told me they would try to fix it last night and to be "patient".

It's been a week since I can't access my website! I'm about to go elsewhere and ask for reimbursement.. I just recnewed for a year last month. I'm defenetively below the 99.97% up time..

Anyone else having the same problem or have any suggestions??

Well, you've got support confirmation saying they're working on it, so I would say try to be patient until you hear back from them with resolution.

At the same time, your website itself shouldn't be disabled. I went to it and saw the following error:

CGIWrap encountered an error while attempting to execute this script:
Error Message: Exec format error
Error Number: 8
This message usually indicates there is a problem with the script itself. Often this indicates either that the #! line of the script is incorrect, or the script was uploaded in binary mode instead of ascii mode. Check to make sure that the script does not have control-M's at the end of every line. That will prevent it from executing. An easy fix that takes care of this most of the time is to put '#!/.../perl --' instead of '#!/.../perl' on the first line of the script.

If you are not the owner of this script, please forward this error and the URL that caused it to the script owner. That is often the component in the URL right after /cgiwrap/.

Have you attempted to fix that?

The two main files for the "Forum" to run have been set to "nothing", so that prevents the CGI Forum from executing.

I wonder why that is that the main file to the Forum was disabled.

There is absolutely that I can do because I cannot upload to the server. even if I could upload the two main files needed for the Forum to work, the Forum will not be able to create the temporary files it needs to execute.

I still have a open tech support ticket that has not been ansered for more than 24 hours.

The problem lies in the file count not being reported correctly.

It's been almost a week and I cant wait much longer. I may have to find another provider and somehow tro to get reimbursed cause PowWeb is currently not able to give me service at this time, nor can they say when it will be fixed.

I can understand that problems happen, it would be half as bad if we could get a timeframe of some sort.

I'm anxious to see of other customers have the same problem.

My EXACT file count: 10,575 files

OPS file count: 32,808 files

Here's how I counted the files I have in my powweb account:

Using WS FTP program, I went in each directory of my website and clicked on the button "DIR INFO". When clicked, it opens notepad ans pastes the contents of the directory. I've done that for each and every directory.

I would always cut and paste the information returned to a word document. I then activated the fuction to number the lines in Word. Then all I had to do is go to the end of the document and see at wich line was the last file!

OPS reports 22,233 files too many in my account...

Hello Eric Romano,

I visited your website and saw

CGIWrap encountered an error while attempting to execute this script:

Error Message: Exec format error
Error Number: 8

......

Server Data:

Server Administrator/Contact: support@powweb.com
Server Name: cochonsalemontreal.com
Server Port: 80
Server Protocol: HTTP/1.0

Request Data:

User Agent/Browser: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98)
Request Method: GET
Remote Address: 65.78.88.111
Remote Port: 1561
Referring Page: http://www.mygnrforum.com/

Why is the Server Name: cochonsalemontreal.com ?
The Referring Page is http://www.mygnrforum.com/

Did you look at your forum script before or on line 8?

Since this is a forum, the extra files may be data files or webstats that are stored on your server. When was the last time you removed old logs or webstats? Just reaching for possible solutions at this point.

Can you remove files yourself? Maybe you can reload the forum script. I can't tell why this problem is occurring without looking at your server. Hmm.

Hey,

REPEAT: I cannot upload any files. I CANNOT EDIT any files. My account is locked.

I cannot beleive this! I spent 15 minutes with tech support yesterday. the girl said that the script would take too long to run and that she would hangup and send me an e-mail when the script is finished.

GUESS WHAT! I NEVER RECEIVED AN E-MAIL AND MY ACOUNT IS STILL LOCKED.

This is so unprofessionnal on POWWEB'S PART.

Weird and strange...

I see your post and I have exactly the same problem.

I'm on meteor and I also cannot upload any files or make changes and it s says in OPS that I'm not the main user of my account.

I know that I'm not using too many resources or anything.
Kinda weird, I guess we will have to wait for an official response.
