Hi,

Something new for me. l looked over past messages, but need more info, if you can bear with me.

l get this message:
Execution of (cgi-bin/awstats.pl) is not permitted for the following reason:
Script is not executable. Issue 'chmod 755 filename'

1 - my FTP server allows me to right click, and to allow CHMOD. How do l know it is set to 755?
2 - what files should l check they are set properly?

Now, for this file: awstats.model.conf

l have renamed it as in the tutorial to my username as awstats.username.conf and get this message. You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/awstats.pl on this server.

When l renamed it awstats.mydomain.com/conf l got above Execution of (cgi-bin/awstats.pl) is not permitted for the following reason:
Script is not executable. Issue 'chmod 755 filename'

Which is right, and how to change it to function?

Last but not least,
When in messages/threads "edit" is mentioned, does it mean add the command or replace/overwrite i.e. #example= _____xxx___________#.

Many thanks in advance for your replies, l might have some more later on.

Mattieu,

You may want to try and download a different ftp (such as ws-ftp le) and use the chmod command. Awstats.pl should be chmoded to 755.

You don't chmod wth notepad but with the ws-ftp.

In order to chmod a file, first upload it to the server then right click on the file, then click find chmod under the list of commands.

Hi,

yes, l have right clicked on any files, and chose CHMOD (UNIX). is that right?

Have l done something wrong as in the following:

Thanks, have a nice day,

Mattieu
