dreamweaver: lost in translation

When creating a new web page with dreamweaver you can choose between different types of basic page among html, xml, css, xml and such. What would be the recommended type to use, is there a significant difference?

For normal web pages, choose html. There are uses for the other page types, but if you don't already know you need to use one of them, ignore them. I have several complex sites but have never used any but "html". (I do use CSS files, but not through this menu.)
