What a waste that would be... whoever came out with a practical idea like that... needs a multiple hammering on his head...
4 Operating Systems per hard disk is a waste.
1) I wonder if there is the possibility of increasing the number of
that 'stagnant' 4 OSs configuration?
Considering the fact that I bought a 80G Western Digital Harddisk as of late for the former 40G WD got a knock-out, a hard-knock-out, I suppose..., that's how I put it, just using it for a year plus. (Thanks God, my initial HD: Maxtor 20D is still alive and well.)
2) I wonder if possible to salvage that knock-out 40G WD
harddisk.
1. I "believe" that System Commander (http://www.v-com.com/product/sc7_ind.html) allows you to have more than 4 OS's per drive. I think you'd have to partition it for each OS though.
2. "Check before you chuck" - Many hard drives carry a minimum of 2 years of warranty. Might want to check before you give up the ghost on that 40 gig.

back 4 years ago when I was big into computer repair... WD had 3 yr warranties on the drives. 1 800 ASK 4 WDC is the phone number too.

Wow man thats crazy. I had 2 Operating Systems on my PC and I thought that was alot. Not sure what could you put with 4 Operating Systems? Win 95, 98, ME and NT? lol
Good luck getting them to be compatable, I always seam to have problems finding drivers. I run Windows 98 and 2000 which took me forever to find all the correct drivers to work with both OS.
I seen this episode on the screen savers this kid installed something like 46 OS's on a HD that was like 60 or 80 gigs... I think that was insane... I did 2 OS's once... Mandrake Linux and Windows XP... took me forever to find drivers for some of the things i had on the dell.. and some things like a winmodel were a b*tch to find...

Drivers are a pain to find for different operating systems, especially for older items in use. There is a program you can install called Driver Wizard which can search and install the correct drivers for you.

How much more Microsoft could you get? Maybe he wants a combo like Redhat Linux, Mandrake Linux, Windows 2000, & Windows ME :p

How about Windows 98 SE for the kids and the drivers that work with the old printer and scanner, Windows 2000 for NT stuff, Windows XP to try the new OS, Linux to use nonMicrosoft. Some of us need to test applications in different environments to make sure it works for everyone.
