I have installed PayPal's shopping cart on my site. Everything works okay except on some computers the invoice doesn't come up with the option to "Continue Shopping"
I tried to get help from PayPal, but so far they haven't responded.
They sure did take my money fast enough but seem to be very slow in responding to pleas of help.
The people who said they had the problem deleted the cookies but that didn't seem to solve the problem. I don't know what browser they are using but in one case I know it was Internet Explorer. I have IE on my system and everything seems to work okay.
Any suggestions?
My site is www.woke-z.com .
Thanks in advance..........Mike

Mike,
I sent a reply by email. The main issue is that some computers see the cart correctly while others don't, because the PayPal cart uses Javascript. Some visitors may have Javascript disabled or unavailable in their browsers. Your own cart would be better.

Yvette,
As usual, you are correct! Enabling scripting solved the problem.
Thanks ever so much.

Shopping carts using Javascript don't work for everyone. And remotely hosted scripts (PayPal runs on its own server) are out of your control. Try finding free scripts and following instructions to install them. If you find something you like and it works, dump the other cart. It also makes your site look more professional. ;)

Yvette,
After going thru the "hassles" with PayPal I couldn't agree with you more. I know it's easy to set up and can be done in minutes by even the most inexperienced. But as you say, you're stuck with them and lose complete control of your site at that point.
This reminds me of the advertisement I hear on the radio. The ad goes, "Your company can have a professional web site in just twenty minutes!" Yeah, right - professional????
Do any of you know of a particular free shopping cart script that works well that I could use as a learning tool - a go-by if you will? I still need to learn how to connect "my" cart to PayPals site for credit card processing and can only imagine the problems I'm going to encounter when I try and ask PayPal for that kind of information. Let's see.......after 40 mouse clicks, and scrolling to the bottom of some obscure page there is a place to ask a question. Oh oh, it says, could be 1 to 30 days before they have an answer. Kinda funny......only took them a few seconds to take my money.

Email me, Mike. I can help you with the cart I use most. It works for PowWeb customers, so it should work for you.

Hello Mike,
Why don't you try setting your site up with oscommerce. You can eve install it through member ops. It'll make your site look more professional, and you can accept paypal. The gateway comes installed.

Mike,
you can view oscommerce at work on my website's online store http://www.naturalhealthland.com/catalog
oscommerce is a very good shopping cart, which you can modify to fit your needs. It is distributed under open source, therefore al modifications are welcomed. It has a very big community, that can help you with any problems. There is also a forum on powweb dedicated to oscommerce.
To have my store working the way it is, I had a lot of help from powweb's forum, and I'm sure we will al be glad to help you.
Try it, it won's hurt. If you don't like it just delete it.
You need to enable mysql in member ops first.

Natural,
Checked your site out and it's really nice. Simple to use.
I think what you're telling me is that the source code for the cart can be put in my cgi-bin and it can be edited to fit my needs. Is that correct?
Thanks, Mike

Mike,
No, it is not correct. Oscommerce is a complete "shopping website", which uses mysql database.
To install it go to your member ops, under html click on oscommerce. It will install a catalog directory in your htdocs.
To continue installing put http://yourdomain.com/htdocs/catalog/install/install.php in your browser and follow the instructions.
As I sais before, you can try it, and if you don't like it just delete it. It will not mess your website up, since it is installed in a different directory, under htdocs.
Please post any further questions.

Has anyone used Coupon codes with OSCommerce and Paypal? OScommerce was installed free when I set up my hosting and I am just getting into it. I was told I could use coupon codes, but have not been able to find that option when setting up my cart. I know that Paypal does not accept coupons, but was hoping that the cart takes care of this prior to sending it to the paypal database. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
