we also have members directory


Can we have chat.powweb.com? ... java based chat .. similar to yahoo (chat.yahoo.com) where all the community members can log in & chit chat ... we can have different rooms ... computer help, chit chat etc ..

it will provide instant help to the one in need & its fun to chit chat and know about other fellow members ...


just a thought ... what do you say?

now that's a cool idea.....

If only chatroom admin and moderation were not so time consuming.....

Been there, done that, and would do it again.

There is nothing like advice, support, and venting right when the 'issue-of-the-moment' arrives.

I would be interested in helping out with this if it were to happen.

in fact..... maybe i could set up a sample one as i already run a couple of chatrooms on my site.

Hmmmmmmmmm.... big wheels turnin' here.......

Good idea. I'd like it. Unfortunantely, I seriously doubt it'll happen. :(

Although a couple of mods have been added, the chat would require more and proabably needs its own box.

pauli has no problem chatting right here.....you just have to be fast at the keybord and mouse.....oh and ya brainnnnnnn

instant reply ..instant Pm's ...... no refreshing .... all members can talk in the rooms. Play music? ...voice chat .... and lots more

An IRC channel with a Java web interface would be great... PowWeb can break its own no-IRC rules for this one :)

That would be very nice!

Except ... more headaches for Powweb, so I doubt it'll happen.

The problem with these chat type rooms is there is no organization, no threading, conversations just get confused and disjointed

Yeah, I like the forums better. With more than 26,000 threads, there are a lot of answers to a lot of questions that a person can search through.
Searching through archived chat would not be as easy.
And if we had both chat and forum, maybe no one would use the forum? :)

Well, support chat is not the same as a community chatroom, but at least now there is hope that it may happen some day :)
