I went through the Awstats tutorial and thought I did everything correctly, but when I got to:
http://keithswinneyband.com/cgi-bin/awstats.p
I get this message?l
The requested URL /cgi-bin/awstats.pl was not found on this server.
Does anybody have an idea where I went wrong?
Did you upload the awstats.pl file into your cgi-bin that is at the same level as your htdocs directory (folder)? When you call anything from the "cgi-bin" the server will look only to the default cgi-bin at the root level.

When I open my ftp, I have 3 folders. in this order:
cgi-bin
etc
htdocs
logs
My awstats.pl file is in a folder that is in the cgi_bin:
cgi_bin/wwwroot/cgi_bin/awstats.pl
should I ave unpacked all of the awstats files from their directories and put them directly into the main cgi_bin?
your awstats files should be in a directory called awstats which you have to create inside cgi bin
You don't have to use a subdirectory. But you do need to upload all the files supplied - some go under cgi-bin and some go under htdocs. The installation instructions are clear on this.

I just put an awstats folder containing all of the awstats files in my cgi-bin, but am still getting the same error message. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Well, I'm getting closer..... I wasn't accessing the directory correctly because I was leaving the "l" off of "awstats.pl".
Now I am getting this error:
Error: Couldn't open config file "awstats.keithswinneyband.com.conf" nor "awstats.conf" after searching in path ",/etc/awstats,/etc/opt/awstats,/etc,/usr/local/etc/awstats": No such file or directory
Setup (Config file, web server or permissions) may be wrong.
See AWStats documentation in 'docs' directory for informations on how to setup awstats.
Any ideas on this one?
I have set the file permissions to 755 like I have read about doing....

:D :D :D I figured it out!!!:D :D :D
Duh............
My setup file awstats.model.conf was off a little bit when I opened it up & switched it to my name. When I saved it, I forgot to check it for the .txt that my text program added to it. Once I took the .txt off, it worked!!!!!
