This site is still being built so I know that it will not get great reviews. I basically need to know if I'm on the right track. There are a few spots where I need to add some links (such as band bios page) and we will be replacing the photos on the home page with some professional photography in November.

I would have a navigation menu on the TOP of the screen. It makes it easier to navigate. Scrolling all the way down can be annoying. Get rid of the counter. I also don't like the font. Change it to arial or something, and get rid of the bold. I like the blue and grey colors (of the images) on the black background.

I've been tossing ideas around on changing the menu. I just havent' gotten to that stage yet. Thank you for the input....

I saw a java script menu that rolled onto the screen at a free java site that I have experimented with, but have been having trouble getting it to work. Eventually I may have some buttons instead of a table, and put them at the top or bottom of the screen. My menu isn't that attractive at the moment, thus I have placed it at the bottom. Plus I want the main focus to be the band, not my menu. That could be different if I had a smaller menu....

I will also check out the fonts......

I also run my own little music site. I'm just a lonely composer/instrumentalist. If you want to exchange links, it will generate us a little more traffic and get us higher on Google.

Slightly too wide for 800x600 and a bit slow to load perhaps. I would put the menu to the left of the top picture rather than at the bottom. Might also benefit from some CSS mouseovers on the links. Otherwise, a good solid design. Good luck with it.

I've been fighting the slowness of the pictures. It's partially my fault for the way that I have it set up. The pictures are low resolution, but I'm placing the photos on the background of a table and then placing a transparent gif image over top of the background. We have had some problems in the past where a "so called promoter" took some pictures off of our last site and claimed that he booked the band. In essence he was stealing our photos without permission to make himself look like a promoter. If someone is able to get past the disabled right click, they will download the clear image. Most people won't be able to figure out that if you simply go to "view source" that they will be able to find the correct picture link. I'm just trying to make it harder for them I guess.

I'm looking for a way to scramble the source code so they can't get that either.

Anyway, it's the gif that's slowing it down, and I've been trying to speed it up....

As for setting it up for 800 x 600, I may look into this. Is this pretty much the standard, because on my stats, I get very few 800x600 visitors.
