View Full Version : Is it possible to run webalizer & awstats both at the same time?

If possible, how would this work with the crontab file in the etc directory? The current crontab file I have running on awstats refers to awstats in the text of the file.
Also,
I tried to install the webalizer, but could not find the webalizer.conf as called for in the webalizer tutorial. I found a sample.conf. Can anybody help me here?
I would say: why not?
I don't do it, but I do run both AWSTATS and Power PHLogger.
AWSTATS uses cron and the web server logs.
Power PHLogger uses PHP and MySQL and creates its own logs. It does not need cron.
So, if cron is not working for some reason, but MySQL is not down, I still have stats. And if MySQL goes down, but cron is working, I still have stats. It's like a little extra insurance.
Yep, it's very possible. I run both via the same cron file without any problem. :)

Just rename the sample.conf to webalizer.conf and make whatever changes you want within.

Nino-
I just checked out the Power PHLogger site and am interested in setting this up on my website. I have setup a MySql database, but am new to MySql. I hope I haven't gotten in over my head. Do you think you could help me set this up on my site? The installation instructions from the Power PHLogger site didn't make much sense. Is there another tutorial on how to do this somewhere?
Or, if you don't have time... could you lead me in the right direction?
Should I load the Power PH Logger files that I unzipped into the powweb ftp server, or should I load them into the MySql database? I feel stupid asking this question, because common sense tells me to load them into the MySQL database., however my password doesn't seem to work- I have to check on this. Is it because I'm trying to log in from an ftp program?
Please don't think I'm crazy for trying this. I know I can do it! ANy help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
I'm also going to post this topic in the php/MysQl forum.
You might want to use this instead of installing power phlogger yourself.

webmeister,
nmsupplies' suggestion is a good alternative if you don't want to go through the trouble of installing PHLogger on your own web site (or for those sites that can't install PHLogger).
It means your stats will be monitored from another web site and you don't have to trouble yourself with MySQL or any configuring other than setting up an account on nmsupplies and placing some extra code on your web pages.
Let me know if you still want to install PHLogger on your own web site, and I'll post a list of steps that may be helpful.
