I've tried over 2 weeks but can't get it to run. ARRGGG!!.
I am installing the full version of awstats.59.zip
awstats.pl is in cgi-bin and chmod 755
Perl path is #!/usr/bin/pearl in awstats.pl
I've triple checked u/username paths etc. What's up?
Error log: [Wed Oct 29 23:28:01 2003] [error] [client 000.00.00.000] Premature end of script headers: /www/*/***/cgi-bin/awstats.pl
What am I'm missing?? Stuffed If I know. :(

you need a crontab in ur ht docs to state something along these lines...
0 0 * * * /www/e/user/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=sitename.com -update >>/www/e/user/logs/cronaw.log 2>>/www/e/user/logs/cronaw.err
and 3 enters under that line also...
and the spelling for perl should be as i stated perl... that should work for ya...
on the corntab it has to be crontab with no extentions...
if you need more help check this site out.. this is where i gto my info and it seems to be working thus far...

Croc,
What do you have your conf file named? If you are using the domain.ext in the name, try changing it to just awstats.conf and see what happens. By default Awstats will look for awstats.conf if it can't find it under another name.
I had a heck of a time getting my first install to work. Got different errors each time I thought I'd found my problems, finally found a combination that Awstats liked and it's been running fine since (fingers crossed).
Since you are running the full version, run through the .pl and conf files and double check for any "default" path references that you might have missed.
Croc - I had the same problem yesterday when I installed and my solution was twofold:
1) had to change the permissions to 755 which I think you said you did.
2) for some reason the tutorial of installing awstats in 5 easy steps seemed to be wrong. Step when you save the awstats.model.conf file with your domain the directions tell you to not put the www in the filename. However - it worked when I did put the www in the filename. in my case awstats.www.avenuebdesign.com.conf and that seemed to do it
I hope this helps you like it did me!
