Well I dont know how to put this... I have been lurking this part of the forum for the last 3 days... I installed awstats on my site I believe I set everything up to how I am suppost to and bla bla... I set a cron up on a new ect folder considering the site i have didnt come wit one... I had a computer tech freind of mine help me out with it.... and couldnt do anything so now my last resort is to come here and ask for help.... so I am doing so....

now for my problem... I cant get it to update on its own... I set the cron up in HTdocs like i thought it said but the tech guy told me its suppost to goto a file called ect so I did what he said and its still not updating.... so I am wondering why isnt it updating... its not updating on its own or manually.... anyway thanx for the help if anyone can provide it....

Other people are having the same problem. Is your cron set up for automatic updates? For what time? Check other thread concerning this issue.

The crontab file is supposed to go in /etc
Make sure you upload in ASCII format and there is a trailing \n in the file.

ya i have the file set like that its not in HTdocs... its before ht docs... also the \n in the cron itself or in the permissions.... if so in permissions I need a # for that... thanx Halfabee..

:EDIT::

Come to think of it I dont really understand that whole /n thing... sorry still half moron... thats why it says this space for rent on my avator... haha..

this is what my crontab looks like

0 * * * * /www/e/me/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=deathgoth.com -update >>/www/e/me/logs/cronaw.log 2>>/www/e/me/logs/cronaw.err

The \n is just a newline or enter key, don't type \n.
Just edit the file in notepad and press enter a couple of times.

The crontab file ( named crontab ) goes in a dir called etc below the htdocs dir.
