phpadmin help ?

im pretty new to using phpadmin on my ikonboard forums. ive been told that you use this program to optimize, repair tables.

my database is growing pretty rapidly in size, is it safe to empy tables to reduce the size of the databases ?? if i empty them will i loose posts ?

Backup everything on your computer before making any changes. I don't use Ikonboard, but if it is like the forum I use, you should be able to turn off the board before making changes. Then you can edit things and turn the board on again.
