I am a new user and trying to upload files to the server. Using FTP, I cannot upload files in the htdocs folder. I can upload files to the server, but not to htdocs. And it will not let me move files to the htdocs folder. Plus I have noticed that there is no index.htm file in htdocs. I appreciate the help for this newbie. Thanks.

Your site is probably not fully setup yet. How long has it been since you signed up...and can you even see the htdocs folder??

I can see the htdoc file, I even uploaded a file to the server just to make sure that I was FTPing correctly. It uploaded to the server, but I can't get it to upload to the htdoc file. When I try to upload to the htdoc file, I get error messages saying "553 Cannot open that file. Permission denied. When I try to move a file from the server to the htdoc file, I get an error message stating 550 Rename/Move failure. Permission denied.
I just noticed something on the message log right after my password is accepted. It states.....230 OK. Current restricted directory is / CWD /htdocs. Not sure what that means. But I do know, that I have never seen the index.htm file in htdocs yet.
I was told earlier by support that everything in my account was ready for me to upload. If I look at OPS, everything is active. Thanks for the help.
What do you see when you log into your site via FTP? Is htdocs the only folder that you see or are there others?

I see 3 files...htdocs, cgi-bin, and logs. I added a photos directory to the main directory to see if I could move it to htdocs and that was a no go. I also uploaded an index.htm file to the main directory, but couldn't move it to htdocs either.
I am using ftp02.powweb.com....that is the server from OPS and that is what I am putting for the server name and then logging in with my log-in name and password. I am new, so it is entirely possible I have missed something.
I did try WS-FTP first and then downloaded SmartFTP just to see if the program was causing the problem, but it didn't help. Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like some how the permissions on your htdocs folder have been locked. You will need to get with support and have them reset your permissions for your account.
Try to chmod htdocs to 755 and see if that helps, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the reply....I did forget to mention I already checked the CHMOD and it was set at 755. I am lost at this, so I am emailing support. I will let everyone know what is up.
I just posted on the Dreamweaver forum at http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15698as I thought this was the problem but now I see it's not...
I've got exactly the same prob with the same server. When I emailed support they told me to check my user and password but these are working OK.

Actually....I got an email from them just a bit ago, but the problem was not fixed. I called them and they have no idea why that happened.
But what they said I could have done if I had known and what they did while I was on the phone was to delete the empty file htdoc and then just make another htdoc file again. After he did that, I was able to upload to the htdoc file. Hope this helps....I just got off the phone with them about 30 minutes ago.
Thanks for the info but it won't let me delete the htdocs folder and make a new one and I can't call them up as I'm in UK.
Glad you got yours fixed and I'll just have to sit and wait for another reply I guess.
