View Full Version : My site's down
Is there a problem with terra? My site has refused http access for more than 24 hours now. It states the user does not have permission to access the page/s. This happens at the home directory as well as sub directories.
FTP works fine, and HTTP returns the terra page for the base IP # 66.152.97.243.

Check the history tab in OPS ...
What's your domain name?
For some reason Powweb has changed the permissions required by Apache for file access, and directory access and pass through, from 'other' to 'group' on Terra.
A real pain. Took 20 minutes to change all the file and directory permissions. I set both 'group' and 'other' to prevent this problem in the future, but I really shouldn't have to. I dislike having 'any' permissions set that are not required.

Uhm, in my limited experience (since 1994, Apache on IRIX), file permissions for world-readable files (i.e., your website), had to be set group readable (& executable for the directories).

Which is wise, grasshopper, but think about it: you want the world to read your website, so of course you should have it set "other-readable".
