Messing around with some ideas for a meteor impact and this is what i have so far, very basic with lots more to do :

impact test 171 kb divx (http://www.black-and-white-to-color.com/stuff/ei1.avi)

OK the scale is right off, though an impact body that size would do some seroius damage i doubt if the earth would take that impact without disintergrating !!

I like the light trick, maybe when i do a larger version of the earth i could make the earth surface translucent and have the lights inside and get the fire effect to come through from underneath ?

No particles :( i may add some for the hell of it

but this defiantely looks the way to go, lots more work before i make a tut on it !!

Love it...and I'm sure you're gonna improve on it more. Maybe make it alittle slower so we can really look at it and enjoy:cool:

Coming a long way with this...any future plans to start your own special effects team for HollyWood :D

a wee bit better but still loads more to do

stage 2 361 kb divx (http://www.black-and-white-to-color.com/stuff/ei2.avi)

yes once i have the impact as i like it i will work on the burning entry ( ooh sounds painful :D ) and hopefully a fly by of some cities suitably being devasted by the force of the passing (no.. not more sad double entendres doctor :o ) and maybe an ocean that parts a la moses and the red sea

The a to b roll (video talk for switching from camera a view to camera b view) is exciting. The meteor is coming at me and then the devastation of the impact is seen. Wow! :)

i have not got the fire storm as i want it and i will adjust the meteor flames and camera angles, perhaos a cut from the initial burn up shots to a goumd up view showing the meteor flying across an ocean then a ground view impact cutting to a space view of the aftermath ?

Very nice...loving it. Maybe one camera angle, from looking from earth and following it all the way in, may be a nice touch.
