No - PowWeb doesn't put popups in anyone's sites. Check your computer for spyware.

No popups ... from powweb ever.
Do a google search for "Spybot" ... it's more than likely coming from your own machine.
Here's the link ...

Also install and run Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/).

I was thinking PW did something to my site a while ago but didn't think they would. Come to find out, I had spyware. Perhaps something in the code for your site (like a meta keyword tag) triggers the spyware.
As a note for here, perhaps it would be advisable to put a sticky somewhere that PW DOES NOT put popups in... the fact that spyware is becomming more and more of a problem every day... to prevent posts like this one and mine that I did a week or so ago.

Hmm yeah... my guess would be the counter script is doing it. Try disabling that and see if you still get the popups.

There's your answer... its the counter.
Do you need a counter visible for any particular reason? If you need a visable counter, seems like there would be a way to link the counter number to the log files from here... if you just want the counter for your own information, webstats will give you all the info you need... plus you have access to the raw log files if you need even more info.
Hi,
If you want a good counter script, I'd highly recommend BBClone (http://bbclone.tuxfamily.org) . It is a FREE counter and tracking software which works very well.

How come some people always blames Powweb first?
Its ALWAYS spyware or something the web builder has done that causes the pop ups.
Sorry for the rant but I am very tired of this type of thread over and over. I bet we see this exact thing again in less then one week.

They can't seem to find a reason why would it be their issue so they just apply logic... tada :)

Sometimes is that they get hacked for real, so this is not always the reason. ;)

Thanks to that users don't read the TOS or Usage Policy of such sites. :(

Its still not Powwebs fault.... but Yes I suppose its not ALWAYS spyware or a service a developer signed up for.
