I have been reading the internet on this issue but I am not really satisfied. I decided to ask to the masters in the subject. I need to achieve the following

DVD -> avi or divx
Audio CD -> mp3 songs
mp3 songs -> Audio CD

.. what software do you suggest??

Any help is appreciated.

1) DVD -> avi or divx
2) Audio CD -> mp3 songs
3) mp3 songs -> Audio CD
1) No experience there
2) Easy CD-DA Extractor (http://www.poikosoft.com)
3) Roxio Easy CD Creator (http://www.roxio.com) - Easy CD-DA Extractor can actually do this as well, but I've never used it for that.

Neither of the above are free. I wasn't sure if you were looking for free or not. :)

I would be more interested on software which would be free since I would like to try it out first.

A good site for real reviews is www.download.com (a division of cnet). They have download counts, popularity counts, reviews, and ratings.

I got a few good programs off there. The reviews from other people are key to my decision. They have free and trial version software.

Download.com has many free TRIALS, but there are many of freeware downloads sites that have more/all freeware.

German site. Safe, but you should always check downloads with antivirus software anyway.

This has some great stuff.

Plenty more if you search Google. Maybe someone will recommend a program he/she likes.

Sounds like a good multimedia post :p. Nothing good is free.. except maybe for the hours you'll gladly give playing with these programs. Copyright laws withstanding.

Exact Audio Copy (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) is one of the better free CD rippers that I've found.

Team MP3 (http://www.team-mp3.com/mp3/mp3_rippers.htm) has a list of rippers that have trial/demo downloads.

MPEG Suite (http://ec2000.xperiment.net/) is a decent ripper for a freebie. It works with XP as well.

And, yes, I do believe this thread has become something best suited for the Multimedia forum :D

Why I was hesitant about posting here. But I believe or at least hope that people are making legal copies. It stinks when you lose or damage your only copy of something. Just ask my son who damaged one of his game cds.

I beg to differ.. I think alot of good things are free... like.. death sex and linux.. all my favs.. haha

now to the point of this..

have you tried using Xvid.. I am not sure u can rip it to dvd however... its a really good codec.. in my 3d days i did alot of animations in xvid very very compact...
audio CD's for ripping and getting tags I would say Music match or WInamp...
and a good ripper is Nero..
