I program a website for a fairgrounds/auto racing entertainment facility. The manager has asked about the possibilty of streaming audio of the grandstand PA system from our site.
Does anyone have any experience with the hardware/software/technical requirements to do this? I'd be interested to hear ideas.
The Fair Board has also asked about the possibility of streaming video. I've already told them that's a whole different ball game and would be expensive.
Thanks!

not sure on streaming your audio but honestly, streaming video wouldn't be all that hard. Simply run a webcam. Run a computer with a tv tuner card in it... hooked up to a camcorder - shoot that out as a webcam. Of course it may be jittery if you don't have highspeed access but webcam setup is easier to make happen than audio from what I've gathered.
Course, you could stream the video and have someone use a teletype machine to "close caption" everything... but then you would need someone who knows how to use the special tools - unless you could come up with something that had decent speach recognition.

Are you speaking of streaming audio on the web site for those who visit the web site or streaming from the internet to a site at large. If you speaking of streaming on the internet it's no big deal. Good answer. Repeat the question for details.
I am thinking of doing the same thing. I want to be abile to talk about something, answer questions people may ask me and once a week have a live show. I want to be abile to have the live audio go from my pc- to the Site and then (person at the site) will click listen to live. and they can hear me.
If you have found out how to do this I would be greatfull for any information you could give me.
for live audio/video streaming you really need to look at a company who can supply you with those specific services. Live streaming takes up large amounts of bandwidth as the system you're streaming to must receive your transmission while it must also serve the content to however many listeners there are.
i recommend that you do a search online for Real Media Streaming. that should help you find a host for that.
